CHRISTMAS DECORATING TIPS FOR 2018
SEASONS GREETING
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU!
Celebrate The Spirit Of The Season
If you are like me when it comes to Christmas decorating these days, then you will think 'less is more'. The less decorations I do in my house, the less time it will take me while taking them down.
Now that I am an empty nester and getting older, I no longer feel the need to go all out with decorating at Christmas time. However, I do miss having an Old Fashioned style Christmas celebration, and hearing the laughter of little children as they tear open their gifts from Santa.
But, I still enjoy going around the neighborhoods looking at all the festive lights and decorations on the lawns. I still listen to Christmas carols, watch holiday movies on TV, and visit down home with my mother; where there will most likely be sweet smells of homemade pies, and cakes coming from the kitchen.
Here are a few of my quick and simple Christmas decorating tips:
1. Attach a red, gold or silver ribbon to tall candlestick holders, lamps, or in a potted green plant.
2. Change out the vanilla candlesticks to green, red, or whatever your Christmas colors are.
3. Put an assortment of colorful tree ornaments in glass bowls and tall clear glass jars. Sit them on tables, countertops, or chests.
4. Put pieces of spruce greenery on top of the fireplace mantel, or
tie some onto the Dining Room chandelier with floral wire.
5. If you do not feel like putting up a Christmas tree, just buy several live Poinsettias and place them around the bottom of the stairs, on the fireplace hearth and on table tops.
6. Another favorite plant to use is the Amaryllis. Like the Poinsettia, it even comes in several colors.
I use floral wire to attach bows to my candlestick holders.

Use colorful ornaments in different shapes and sizes on more than just the tree.

I have always loved the red Amaryllis plant. You can get the bulbs and grow your own or wait until they are in season and get some.
I hope you and your family have a Very Merry Christmas! Don't forget the elderly and the homeless!
